florida golf communities

There are two things that Southwest Florida does best: golfing and creating the perfect tropical climate for beautiful beach visits. Living in Southwest Florida Golf Communities offers you the luxury of both convenient access to the golf course and close proximity to beach.

Let Barry DeNicola be your guide to these Southwest Florida Golf Communities.

Bonita Bay

Within the Bonita Bay Community there are three incredible golf courses – Marsh, Creekside, and Bay Island.

Marsh winds its way through a wetland terrain with stunning oak trees and palmettos. It provides the perfect setting for a challenging round of golf. The natural wetlands and the vegetation create water hazards and landscaping.

The Creekside course has broad fairways and limited carries, with a hint of land elevation that give a rolling hills feeling.

The Bay Island course is the longest and toughest of the three courses at Bonita Bay Club West. The challenges include: water hazards, thick oak trees, sand traps and cypress, making an exciting game for even the most skilled golfer.

The Brooks – Shadow Wood

The Brooks is a master-planned community covering over 2,400 acres. It offers four separate gated communities with a wide array of home types and features. The Shadow Wood community offers three championship courses:

The North Course was designed by award-winning golf course architect Bob Cupp. The course features mounding fairways surrounded by beautiful nature preserves and scenic lakes.

Also designed by Bob Cupp, the South Course is more open with expansive landing areas and distinctive water features.

Thirdly, Arthur Hills crafted the Preserve Course. This course winds through natural wild wooded areas of marshes and wetlands full of native oaks, sabal palms, Florida slash pines, palmettos and many other plant life.

Country Creek

Country Creek is a beautiful 283-ace private country club community with an 18-hole golf course. This course features a restaurant, full-service clubhouse, five community pools, fitness center, Har-Tru tennis courts, and a pro shop. The community is located west of I-75 next to Miramar Outlets and Gulf Coast Town Center.

Country Creek boasts a challenging 18-hole course that is perfect for all skill-levels of golfers to enjoy a round of golf and perfect their skills. The beautifully landscaped greens and fairways make Country Creek a challenging yet friendly course. Gordon G. Lewis designed this course in 1988.

Pelican Sound

This gated golf course community is located on the Estero River north of the Coconut Point Mall. The community features a fitness center, nature trails, a canoe park, pools, six Har-Tru tennis courts and twenty-seven holes of golf to enjoy in the bright Florida sun.

Chip Powell and Mike Hill designed this Audubon-certified 27-hole championship private golf course in the Pelican Sound community. The three nine-hole courses – the River, the Sound and the Lakes – actively preserve the surrounding woodlands and wetlands. This sustainable environment offers an incredible golf game that even professional golfers find to be a challenge. Every course has a set of seven tees ranging from 4,600 yards to 7,100 yards. The Audubon offers a great course for every skill level. Two nine-hole courses comprise the eighteen-hole rounds.

Spanish Wells

The Spanish Wells Golf & Country Club community offers a combined 27 holes of championship golf, where members can enjoy both the North and South courses designed by Gordon Lewis and the East Course designed by Bruce Howard. The courses are landscaped with large oak trees, unique water features and tropical palm trees. Members can play the North, South and East courses in three different 18-hole combinations, with plays ranging from 4,800 yards to 6,800 yards.
